City of Tolleson General Plan
The City of Tolleson General Plan Update provides the city with a contemporary plan to position the city to be economically competitive and sustainable. The city is largely built-out, and recognizes that higher density housing and new regionally-based retail development is necessary to continue to improve the quality of life for residents. The General Plan creates four place-based land use categories that provide opportunities for a range of development tailored to the and are appropriate to the market and context, and are culturally relevant. In addition to state-mandated elements, the Plan also includes economic and housing elements, and updated, and new GIS mapping. The plan recommendations are coordinated with the city’s CORE district. Residents were encouraged to engage in the planning process through on-site meetings at Luces de Navidad, a public workshop, and a survey provided on-line and delivered to each household in the city.
