City of Goodyear Parks and Recreation Master Plan
The City of Goodyear Parks and Recreation Master Plan provides policy guidance and identifies specific park and recreation facility projects to meet the city’s needs through 2030. PLAN*et coordinated development of this plan with the city’s General and Transportation Master Plans. Extensive community engagement including a facilities assessment, community survey, focus groups and community workshops informed a final master plan that includes standards for new parks and trails, trail design guidelines, policies for private development of neighborhood parks, maintenance, and a maintenance reserve fund. The plan also provides options for administrative structures to support growth and identifies priority projects funding options for implementation for the short, mid and long term. As a result of this plan, the city is moving towards creating a citizen committee to promote its trails system and open space resources, as well as realigning it’s capital budget to ensure that parks and recreation facilities receive adequate funding.
