Grand Canyon West Master Plan
Located within the Hualapai Reservation, Grand Canyon West includes 9,000 acres surrounding the world-famous Grand Canyon Skywalk, and is visited by over 750,000 people from around the world each year. With the improved access to the skywalk, the number of visitors is expected to more than triple over the next decace, and the types of activities desired by visitors will diversify. The Master Plan includes economic, infrastructure, land, and other analysis to determine development in keeping with tribal values, an overall master land use plan that conserves open space and addresses motorized and non-motorized circulation and infrastructure, views, and important sites as well as site plans for development areas within Grand Canyon West, phasing, infrastructure costs and design guidelines. An extensive community engagement process, including focus groups, public meetings and design sessions was employed to develop ideas for the master plan alternatives and to develop a refined master plan.
